Congratulations to Cheer and Dance!

Cheer won 1st place in the Large Varsity Show Cheer Advanced Non-Tumbling Category.

Dance won 1st in XL Dance, 1st in Medium Lyrical, and 3rd in Medium Hip-Hop.


 

Cheer also won the entire Varsity Cheer Division (all sizes and all levels) with the highest score of the day! Which means Cheer beat 6 other teams in their immediate division and another 7 teams in the Small/Medium Cheer division. This means they are the VARSITY CHEER NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

 

Cheer and Dance together won the overall highest spirit trophy as well by earning the most points of the entire day.

The window to apply for financial aid officially opened on October 1st

Students will need to complete the FAFSA or the Dream Act application.  This Cash for College event is free, open to all graduating high school seniors and their families, and also includes meals. Students will also learn about scholarship resources. Please register at:

There will be a Junior Preview Day field trip on Friday, October 27. Permission slips are available in the Guidance Office beginning, October 2. The first 40 students to return a signed permission slip will be able to attend. We will be leaving LP at 8am and return before 3pm.

The Junior class is holding a fundraiser at Shakey's Pizza on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 PM. Joins us at the Shakey’s on the corner of Azusa and Amar (2520 S. Azusa Ave, West Covina). 25% of all regularly priced sales will be donated to the Class of 2019.

Please leave your receipt in the LPHS Class of 2019 box when you order and pay.

All sophomores will take the PSAT but if you are a freshman or junior and are interested in taking the PSAT, pick up an application in the counseling office from Ms. Tenorio.  Juniors who score high enough can qualify for a National Merit Scholarship. We have a limited number of tests available for 9th and 11th graders so hurry in to pick up your application.

Parents and students are expected to attend their scheduled business days this year to take care of business before school begins August 9th.  You will have the opportunity to turn in your registration packet, take your school photo, sign up for your lunch account, buy an ASB card, get your Class schedule and pick up your textbooks.

  • Freshman Business day is Tuesday, July 25th from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Senior Business day is also Tuesday, July 25th but from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Junior Business day is Thursday, July 27th from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Sophomore Business day is Thursday, July 27th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Each student who attends can enter a drawing to receive one of four Kindle Fire’s.

If you still have textbooks at home, please bring them to the LPHS front office before business days in two weeks.  You will not be able to check out textbooks on business days unless all your books from the previous years have been returned.

LPHS' Russell J. Ribb Library was selected for one of the ten California Credit Union Teacher Grants. The project, titled: “Drawing from the champions: Supporting Literacy with 2017’s Great Graphic Novels for Young Adults” was awarded $500.

The award will go toward improving our library's graphic novel collection with titles from the Young Adult Library Services Association's 2017 Great Graphic Novels for Young Adults list.
