School Meals

2013-2014 School Year

Dear Hacienda La Puente District Families;

Hacienda La Puente Unified School District cafeterias are meeting tough new Federal nutrition standards for school meals, ensuring that meals are healthy and well-balanced and provide students all the nutrition they need to succeed at school. Now is a great time to encourage our kids to choose school lunch!

School meals offer students milk, fruits, vegetables, protein and grain. The meals must meet strict limits on saturated fat and age appropriate portion sizes. Beginning this school year, school meals will meet additional standards requiring:

  • Age-appropriate calorie limits
  • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (students must take at least one serving per meal)
  • Wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red-orange vegetables and legumes
  • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk must be fat-free)
  • More whole grain rich options
  • Less sodium

School meals are a great value and a huge convenience for busy households. Hacienda La Puente Unified School District meal prices:

  • Breakfast = $1.00 for all grade levels
  • Lunch = $1.70 Kinder through 5th grade
  • Lunch = $1.95 6th through 8th grade
  • Lunch = $2.20 9th through 12th grade
